Red on blue?
The tagline of my blog, “Think of it as streaks of red lines on blue,” alludes to a couple of things.
Firstly, it refers specifically to Habonim Dror, my youth movement. The chultza (think: uniform) that members of Habo wear is a blue shirt with red string. So really, this blog is one way of bringing out some of the ideas that Habo embraces: social activism, equality, informal education and so many more.
Another allusion is to the colours used in American politics when describing the Republican and Democratic parties — the former is the “red” party, while the latter is described as “blue”. I find that this is quite an apt analogy to my own ideology. More often than not I find myself being “blue”, a social democratic with strong left-leaning ideals. On the other hand, on some issues, and at some times, I find myself being far more conservative in my views; I find myself being quite “red”.
