Your World Today

Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

Two interesting pieces of news that caught my eye today I thought I’d write about. Usually they’d slip by my blogging sphere, but the mix of some quite powerful drugs and boredom has led me to post.

First, Apple’s beautiful new Mac Book Pro was released. This is their first system to be built with an Intel chip, and they reckon that it’ll be four times more powerful than the old Powerbook G4. An interesting hypothesis. I guess we’ll wait and see what happens when it begins to ship them in February. One thing’s for sure: it’s one hell of a white beast.

Next is some news that belongs squarely in the ‘only in Israel’ file. With Israelis glued to their televisions, crime on the streets has halved nationwide. I guess it’s a shame that this is what it takes to get Israelis to calm down, breathe, and stop what they’re doing, but I guess the impossible happened. With Sharon getting better, albeit slowly, I guess the next question is, how long will it take before Israeli bandits hit the streets once more? I suspect not too long.

To lighten the mood…

Saturday, December 11th, 2004

A little joke to lighten the mood:

One day G-d called all the leaders of the world into Heaven. He told them they had made a mess of the world, and that it was time to start the whole experiment over.

“Go to your peoples,” he thundered, “and tell them in six months I shall cover the earth with another flood.”

Contrite, the American president advised his countrymen to repent, and prepare to meet their Maker.

The Russian president told his subjects to eat, drink and be merry, for soon the world would end.

The Israeli prime minister told the Knesset, “We have six months to learn to live underwater.”

My last word…

I promise this will be the last you will hear about Arafat’s death. I promise. But this cartoon from Dana Summers of The Orlando Sentinel really sums everything I’ve been saying up:

Another word on Arafat

SADDAM jailed, his sons killed and now Arafat dead. Great news.

Source…

Another delicious “…And another thing” from Andrew Bolt about Arafat. Great reading. Either get a copy of the Sunday Herald Sun or read it from the link above.
